Good trousers.
A great story.
Some things are worth carrying forward. A love of craftsmanship. A sense of place. The feeling of a truly good fit.
This is Berle
01 / Our beginnings
It started on
King Street.
Brothers Philip and Hyman Berlinsky came to the United States from Poland in the early 1900s. In Charleston, they opened New York Tailors, a men’s clothing store on King Street. Philip’s skill with a needle and thread soon brought requests for custom-made trousers.
In 1946, the brothers founded a trouser manufacturing business of their own. They called it Berle, a name drawn from Berlinsky. Philip and his four sons went on to build the manufacturing business, while Hyman’s family continued the retail store.
Today, the fourth generation carries that family tradition forward from Charleston.

02 / A point of view
Style that feels
like yourself.
There’s a place in a man’s wardrobe for the familiar and the unexpected. Crisp poplin for everyday ease. Rich corduroy when the air turns cool. Wool for the occasions that call for a little more.
Start with the fabric you love. Find the fit that feels right. Make it your own.
